DATAFLOW OFFERS FIRST WAP-ENABLED ACCOUNTING SYSTEM

UK-based Dataflow is the first to market with a WAP-enabled enterprise accounting package. This means that users of dataflow~32 can now access important financial information from the new generation of WAP mobile phones. For example, sales staff are able to check instantly on customer credit details or what stock is available whilst at the client’s site, Financial Directors could monitor cash received and total payments made for the day, and perhaps Sales Directors would want to view total sales invoiced daily.

WAP - Wireless Application Protocol - is widely expected to become the global standard for providing Internet capabilities and services through mobile phones. “With more people working on the move, there are many advantages in providing direct remote access at anytime to important financial data that is usually only available to the accounts department,” said Paul Gibson, sales and marketing director at Dataflow. "WAP phones will soon become the norm for business users and we felt that it was important to provide our customers with the ability to take immediate advantage of this exciting new technology."

Dataflow has been able to rapidly WAP-enable its Windows/NT accounting suite as it is a true 32~bit Windows solution. “Many other accountancy software products on the market are really just old 80s DOS versions dressed up with a Windows front and will not easily support integration to new technologies such as WAP and XML for e-commerce,” says Gibson.

dataflow-32 is scaleable for 1 to over 200 users and supports Microsoft SQL Server. With full multilingual and customisation, dataflow~32 not only allows sales and purchases accounts to be posted in any currency, including Euros, but also enables accounting in any number of base currencies.

Other features include seamless links to other databases and Microsoft products including Excel or Word and tight integration with third-party vertical applications such as manufacturing, membership, contact management, job costing, transport and logistics and payroll. In addition, dataflow~32 provides multi-company consolidation, up to five levels of cost centres plus three levels of trial balance groups and sorting and searching on almost any field.

Dataflow’s early success was founded on the popular dBFLEX accounting system and the new dataflow-32 suite of software is recognised as one of the most powerful new generation 32-bit solutions. Dataflow systems are installed in over a thousand sites worldwide including Chamber of Shipping, De la Rue, Transoft, Advanced Digital, Thomas International, Institute of Chemical Engineers, Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Society.
